Hey! I wanted to make this bracelet with a loop but the black and white strings are odd numbers! I have already watched Masha’s tutorial but didn’t find it helpful! Any suggestions?

Maybe cut your string longer then leave some room for the ties.

if you use mashas tutorial. only use the technique on the odd strings, so you will only split one white string and only split one black string. hope this helps!

What I do is, I cut the strings (like I normally would by doubling as many as possible) and then cut the regular length for the odd numbers. I then create the beginning of the loop and you have to be careful to keep them in the loop and not to tug them. Then you can create your loop and strings like you normally would

what I do is thread the odd strings into the loop, sort of like how @CoolKnot described. you can do this with any pattern, but I will describe it for this one specifically. you need to keep as many strings folded as possible, for this pattern it is 5 black, 4 white, and one of each of the pinks. the odd strings for this pattern are one extra white on the left, and one extra black on the right. basically, cut each of the strings that can be folded however long you need them (approx 2m is normally a good length), as well as one that is slightly longer to make the loop. and cut the odd strings approximately half that length. next, fold all of your strings in half and make a normal loop. your odd strings will obviously be a lot shorter than the rest, but we will fix that in the next step. to fix the odd strings, just pull on each of the ends. on the right, you would pull the black string because the black string belongs on the right. just pull it until the other end is inside the loop (this leaves the entire black string on the right). do the same thing for the white string on the left side, just pull it until the other end is within the loop. when first starting your bracelet be careful with the first few rows. because those odd strings are only part way through the loop, they arent very secure, so if you pull them too hard they will come out. after the first few rows you don't have to worry about them coming out, and you can knot normally. obviously you can do the technique of splitting the strings and looping them together (which masha knots has a video on), but personally, I think this is much better. the biggest thing is that that technique is very tedious. also, I've found that the two halves don't really join back together when making the bracelet, and it makes that string difficult to work with. the only real drawback to this technique is that you have to be a little bit more careful when starting the bracelet, but I don't think that is that bad. hope this helps. I did come up with this technique myself, so feel free to message me if you need any help with it. |

Alex's Innovations has a video on how to make a loop with an odd number of string.
