I have noticed when I make alphas the design look very nice on the pattern but when I actually knot it, it becomes very stretched and distorted. Is there a way to knot where this doesn’t happen? I’ve tried tighter knots and pushing them up more but I’m not sure. Any feedback?

I have noticed that sometimes in my alphas. I've tried using the flat alpha technique and it helped a little. one of the big things is making sure your string is the same thickness. Maybe try imagining like your only doing knots to move across. I know it doesn't make sense, but it might make your knots shorter and your pattern less stretched out.

I have this same problem! I’ve noticed it’s because my knots are longer than they are wide. I haven’t personally figured out a way to fix this, but maybe experimenting with different string thickness will help you (and me) figure something out.

When changing strings, knot really tight so that you can't really see the switch.

@ajr725 This is partially just the nature of the knots. Friendship bracelet knots are taller than they are wide, so the result will end up a little different than the pattern grid. Also, using the flat alpha technique while either taping or clipping your bracelet down should help the distortion.
