I am about to start making pattern #41151 for my dad for father's day, but I don't know how long to cut my base strings.

I should also note I am planning to do a loop and triangle ends (so probably make the pattern 32x40).

I feel a lot more comfortable making 2 color alphas using the name bracelet method (use base strings to do knots of other color), and i was wondering if that is possible to do with this pattern and if so how long should i cut the base strings then (I would make the base black).

If not, how long should I make the base strings if I am switching colors?

Thank you so much!!

Use another alpha you've made to figure out how long each row of knots is. Then multiply that measurement by 46: 40 rows of the pattern plus 6 rows for the triangle ends (I'm assuming you're doing the method where the triangles are still alpha-style and not normal style). Then multiply that number by 2 (because you're doing a loop). Then add around 5cm for the loop (not the string making the loop, but the strings that will be inside the loop). Then leave extra for whatever you're doing for the end of the bracelet.

This is all for if you're not doing the name bracelet method. I've never done that method, so I don't know if you can do it for this pattern or not. But once you do the regular alpha method for a bit you'll probably feel pretty comfortable with it
