Horizontal stiripes in alpha pattern

i am trying to make an alpha where the background has horizontal stripes behind the text, but im not sure how to do this and keep the bracelet intact and whole. i tried using the 'background strings' to make them, and using the 'working string' for the text, but the color of the working string shows on the sides where i turn around for the next row. anyone have any ideas for making this work better?

Maybe do it like a fringe bracelet? That way you can just push your rows all real tight and just use the base strings for your letters

Ok, I'm pretty sure I understand what you are saying. On your last knot in a row instead of doing a forward knot, do a forward backward knot. (Or instead of a backward knot, do a backward forward knot.)If you are using that string again to make another row, I would similarly start with a fb or bf to begin the row. Does that help? If you are working from a particular pattern, I could give you more specific advice. It kinda also sounds like you might be trying to use 2 color alpha techniques when the multicolor alpha technique might work better. Basically that involves several working strings instead of one.

Do you know how to make a multi-colored alpha? Thats basically what this is. There is a tutorial in the tutorial section for a multicolored alpha 🙂

I can do a multicoloured alpha. The background just isn't working for me. I think I figured it out though. I might post a tutorial for the person who asked if it works.
