so im working on a 78 string alpha and im making it on a stick ( idk if there’s a specific saying for those ) and for some reason my strings feel wavy even tho they are tight enough and grabbed all the right strings. when i alternate colors it feels raised as well, idk if there’s a way to prevent that? but like the base color is completely flat but once i get to the other colors it feels raised. i hope i make sense

are you using the flat alpha technique?

make sure that your unused loose leading strings in the back are loose enough. if you make them too tight across the back when you use the color again later (frequently when you use the background color again) it can bunch up all of the knots in between. try cutting these strings in the back and it might help!

@knottahti im not sure if i completely understood, so im working w 3 colors which is purple my base/background color and black and grey so im guessing what you mentioned is that when i change my strings and put them to the back i shouldn’t put them to the side so tight? forgive me if i understood wrong. also my knots aren’t too tight either so im good on that one

hi! sorry if i wasn’t clear haha... what i mean is that you have to make sure to not make the unused string tight against the back when you go to use it again after not using it for a while. say you make a few knots in the left side of a row with your background color, then switch to another color, but you later switch back to the background again on the right side of the row. the part of the string that is left behind the bracelet between those knots, going across from the left to the right, should stay loose when you go to use it again, don’t pull it super tight against the back of the bracelet. does that make sense?

i had this same struggle when i made an alpha on a dowel! i’m pretty sure that this happened to me because my base strings were too close together... this could be what is happening with yours?

@cconti526 honestly my base strings were pretty close too so it could be that, what’s weird is that it’s only the middle part of it but hopefully as i go it’ll fix itself but if not then there’s no going back
