I just started alphas and I was wondering if anyone had any tips or tricks that they've learned? It can be anything, from securing/organizing string to knot tying techniques. Thanks!

@dreamweavr If you go to Masha Knots’ YouTube channel, there are some tips on how to keep your alpha straight and flat. It is a beginner tutorial. One tip that I learned from doing alphas is to not cut your strings outrageously long. You can always add more. Also, make sure to save your scraps because you can make a bracelet out of them. The pattern for the leftovers is #36730. You can also practice knotting on your extra pieces.

I know a lot of people cut their strings for alphas but I leave them on the bobbin. That way no retying and it's easier to just continue going through the pattern.

I was hoping someone would mention this, does it make it harder to tie the knots since you’re bringing the bobbin through or does it not really affect you once you get used to it? @livife0816

Once I got used to it, it doesn't really affect the amount of time it takes me. When I don't use a color for a while I tape down the string and it keeps everything much neater. It does take a little longer when you are just getting used to it, but I personally would never do it any other way.
