if i add a new colour on the edge of an alpha i always end up with the little tuft sticking out of the side. Is there a way to avoid this?

a way to avoid this is to not use the flat alpha technique on the edge. just do the regular string substitution. if it’s on the left, tuck your old string to the right under the bracelet and vice versa on the right. that should prevent the little tuft sticking out of the side🙂

What about when its not a substitution, its at the start and it is a new colour, would you tuck the small end in? I keep getting tiny little tufts on the side

i believe @Margaron (megan morris on youtube) has a tip for that but i haven’t tried it before. she shows it at the end of her “speed knot: bb pattern #31419” video which is connected to that pattern. maybe try that?

add it in with a backward forward or forward backward knot. this will make the tail go toward the back of the bracelet rather than the side. use backward forward knots on the left edge, and forward backward on the right. this normally will prevent the string from showing in the front, but to be sure that you wont see it, you can tuck the end underneath one of the strings in the back of the bracelet that was pulled across. I actually do this with all of the strings I add in, just for an extra layer of security to prevent knots from untying, also to make the back of the bracelet look a little bit cleaner. hope this helps

I hope this helps but whenever I have strings sticking out the back of an alpha I always take some tweezers and put that little bit of thread under on of the crossing strings in the alpha. It’s hides it really well I recommend it
