knot flips

I’m doing a fishtail chevron right now, but my knots keep flipping. I’ll be tying a knot, and the knot next to it will flip and change colors. I’ve made many bracelets, but never had this problem before. I’ve tried tying my knots looser and tighter and nothing works. Also, even if I fix it after it flips, then the next one does it when I’m tying the next knot. Any tips?

gently pull on the string that becomes visible after your knot flips. it should flip back to the correct colored knot after you do that. also knot consistency is key especially on the fishbone where there are a lot of bf and fb knots. whether you knot loosely or tightly make sure you are tying each knot with consistent tension. hope that helps🙂

Hold the string you knotted the previous knot (the one that flips) on tightly when doing the next knot. Try to not pull the string you're knotting with overly tight. You can make "tight" knots without pulling super hard.

I’ve fixed it in the next row by making sure the color you want is visible and the knot below it generally holds it in place.

i’ve also struggled with my knots flipping, and just recommend slowly pulling the first part of the knot up. you don’t have to really change how tight you make the knots though

I have this problem a lot to. What I simply do is pull the string of the flipped knot so that it flips back. While I’m pulling that knot that’s flipped I keep tension on the two strings of the knot I just made to make sure neither knots become loose and end up flipping on the next few knots. I’m not sure if this helps or if what I’m saying is clear but hopefully it does make sense.

Usually knot flipping is because your knots aren’t consistent sizes/tightness(es?). Try making the first half of your knot snug enough to where it’s all the way up against the ones above it, and you shouldn’t have that problem anymore
