So, the first color is E, right? So once you get to the end of the pattern, then you take the next color - C - and follow what E did, then C would finish and A would be the center....so on and so forth......hope it made sense...

You would completely disregard the colours of the knots and just make the type of knots eg. Backward, Forward, Forward-Backward, Backward-Forward

what exactly are you having trouble with? is it segment knotting? is it that you are confused because the colors on the top don’t match the colors on the bottom? have you followed masha knots’s youtube tutorial on the pattern?
