Whenever I do a teardrop loop, I always struggle on getting the first part of the knot in the middle to stay tight does anyone have any advice

Thatโ€™s something that you have to practice but my best tip is to put a finger on the first half of the knot to keep it where you want it and then try to tie the other half while youโ€™re still holding it. Itโ€™s hard to explain but doing it that way will allow you to tighten the second half of the knot without the first half coming loose

It also helps if you use a clip or clipboard and clip the loop in a way that both sides are very close to each other. What also helps is to always keep tension on both threads after you made the first half so it doesn't slip until you do the second half.
