How do you make backgroungless alphas such as the photo on pattern #35456, if someone could make a tutorial or some thing that would be nice!

It’s actually not backgroundless, it just uses white string 😉

i’ve never tried the backgroundless alpha technique before but i know there are video tutorials on bracelet book. if you go to @yank’s profile you’ll find some tutorials in which they do the same technique!

They just use white string, so you could use any color!

@BethanyG and @ekatnnyl i believe what @brade_b is talking about is the photo connected to #35456, not the background of the pattern itself. in that photo, the person took out the white background, which is why it is referred to as “backgroundless” 🙂

@arf820 I didn’t look at the photos, sorry for the misunderstanding! I didn’t know you could do that as I’m a bit new to alphas.

If you google "shaped alpha bracelet" you'll find a tutorial on another page that I can't link to because this comment would get deleted otherwise.

These types of alphas are generally done one of two ways from what I've seen. One is generally with waxed cord and the edges melted and the other is with fabric glue. You make your alpha pattern and then cut the character or shape out and if using waxed cord or plastic cord - run a lighter over the edges to melt them in place. Otherwise, you can use fabric glue along the edges to hold your string put at the edge of your character.

I've never tried to make these myself but I ran into a cool video tutorial a few weeks ago, by a BB member, which is handy. You can find it attached to this pattern #23747 Video by @yank 🦜
