After soooo long I’m still struggling with the edges of the bracelets, alpha and normal patterns. Anyone tips or tricks? 🤦🏼‍♀️

There’s this thing called the straight edges technique where basically you have an extra string on the sides of your bracelet and you do bf & fb knots on it, that was a very brief explanation of it but Masha knots on YouTube has a tutorial on it. I hope that helps.

Definitely gonna check it out, is this technique for both alpha as normal patterns? @poppit

@Amyx I think it can kind of be used for both. The video I mentioned was for normal patterns but Masha knots also has one called the flat alpha technique.

Thanks! Is this the technique you’re using for your bracelets? I saw the photo’s at your profile and the edges are looking great! 😃 @poppit

you do not have to add extra string to do straight edges on an alpha, just make all the edge knots bf or fb knots!

It doesn’t matter of this is a fb or bf not? @ knottahti

on the left side of an alpha you do a bf knot and on the right side of an alpha you do a fb knot because that is the natural direction of your leading string

I don’t actually do this technique for all my bracelets.
I think it’s just that I have been making bracelets for ages.
You don’t have to add string for alphas.
And you do a fb knot where you would do a f knot and bf where you would do b a knot.

Totally recommend the straight edges technique. I also recommend checking that all the strings you use are one thickness/brand. Also, I'd make sure that you knot with the same tension/tightness the entire time. MashaKnots has a few videos that help such as the straight-edge technique video, also various bracelet hacks/tips, how to improve your bracelets, and knot with me + tips!! Hope that this information helps 😉

@ashten: The tickness of my threads are also different. First I was jusing small threads but then I bought tick threads and now I’m using both, from now on I really need to start using the same ones. I think that makes the edges a lot prettier in combination with the tutorial (I think) it will be okay.
