so i recently made a bracelet with a pattern that already had straight edges in the pattern. i tie my knots pretty tightly and when i was making the bracelet, i realized it was curving upward. does anyone know why this is happening? any ways i can prevent this?

You might be making the knots on the edge too tight.

You might be pulling the string you're knotting onto on the edge too tight. Try wiggling the whole bracelet around and see if it gets looser/stops curving up.

If you forget one half of your f or b knots the bracelet might also be curving up because of that. Every knot consists of two halves.

@halokiwi thank you-! i also have another question- how could i not use the straight edges, if the pattern is made with the straight edges? can i change it? i just prefer not to do it but some of my favorite patterns have the straight edge technique

@zarahlmao you would just remove the most left and most right string and leave the knots out you would have made onto those strings.

I have the same problem. If you look at one photo in my profile (it’s a black and white one) it uses the straight edge technique, but it wasn’t straight. First, it was kind of wobbly on the edges (I think it was because of the knot structure) and second, it curved to the side and was NOT straight. Could that be because I tie my forward knot tighter than my backward knot?
