It depends on what you prefer, I prefer to have really tight knots, while other people like lose flexible knots

You definitely don't want really loose knots. If you knot really loosely, the strings won't draw together and you will have holes in your bracelets. I really like REALLY tight knots, but that is just my preference. 😊

I have trouble because if I knot too tightly, my string breaks, but if I knot to loosely, I get holes. Is there a trick to get the tension just right?

To have control over the tightness of your knots you need to be aware of what makes the knots tight. The tightness of the knot is determined by the first half of the knot. If it's close to the previous rows of knots the knot will be tied. You don't have to pull super hard to do that. The second half of your knot just secures it in place. Pulling hard during the second half doesn't change the knots tightness at all. That again means you don't need to pull hard. |
