Hi everyone, I made an alpha yesterday, and i used the straight edges technique, pulled my knots to same tightness, but my edges still aren’t straight as @clairehair and her alphas.

Another question: how do I keep my knots straight upward and not tilted or slanted. I always pull the leading string straight up and the base string straight down. but they are still slanted

Idk how to make the knots not slanted either. It might be normal that they are to a certainly degree. But I know a better technique would be to pull the base string straight down and the leading string in the direction you're knotting into. So to the right for f knots and to the left for b knots. That's at least what I do. I feel it also helps to not make a mess with your strings.

And for the straight edges technique I feel some people forget that they need to do two fb or bf knots right after one another. If you forget one your bracelet will get uneven.

Straight edges you need to do two forward backward or backward forward knots so it will be even. For the slanted knot issue you can just use your nail to adjust it. 🙂

from my many years of making alphas, the slanted knots are pretty normal, you can see this looking at even the most advanced bracelet makers, like @clairehair for example. this is because you are doing fire wards knots in one direction and then backwards knots in the other, so they are bound to tilt a bit.
