You can always cut your string off and save it as scraps for when you don't need very much of one color in an alpha.

You can always ask others what length they used for an alpha and how long it was in the end. The problem though is that people tie their knots differently so you may need more or less string than they suggest.

The base strings should be around the length of your bracelet. As for the other strings I personally don’t cut them until I’m done with bracelet. I leave them on my bobbins
