So I was watching masha knots’s flat alpha tutorial. She did something to switch the leading string into a colored string. I don’t understand what she did. I’ve watched the video 3 times, came to the forum for help, and even looked at pictures, but I still don’t understand. I’ve made 3 alphas before, if you go to my page, you can see the second alpha I made. The first one I made was a Kermit one with hearts over his head. It was awful. I really need help. Someone who is great with alphas, please please, I’m begging you, help me 🥺

ok so what you have to do is tape down the other leading string make the first half of the forward or backward knot then for the other half you put the other leading string above the base string and tie the knot

with the flat alpha technique, you are “locking” the previous leading string in between the new knot. for example, if you are in a row of foreword knots, you would lift the old leading string upwards and out of the way, and then (coming from behind) knot the first half of the forward knot with the second leading string. now, pull up that new leading string out of the way. pull the old leading string over and across (to the right if doing forward knots) the first half of the knot you just made. now make the second half of the forward knot with the new string over and around the old color. then tuck back the old color and continue knotting with the new leading string. i hope that helps!!
