I don’t know if i’m being stupid but i’m trying to make a teardrop loop watching masha knots tutorial with the pattern #30687. The pattern has 22 base strings and masha really only shows how to do it with even numbers and people have did the pattern with a teardrop loop with no problem. what do i have to do?

@chayla I didn’t even know u could do tear drop loops with alphas, but you could add another string into the pattern because with alphas u can miss rows and add rows and it won’t mess it up like a normal pattern

what I normally do is to cut off the one string that is too much after finishing the loop. But I use it in the loop. I hope this makes sense?

My suggestion is to make two individual triangle ends with the alpha technique. It's not the technique MashaKnots uses in her alpha teardrop loop video. You take 11 strings and fold them in half to have 22 basestrings You make the loop using your leading string. You leave both ends of the leading string long enough so you can do two individual triangles with 11 base strings each. To make a triangle with an uneven amount of strings in the first row instead of doing 2 knots you make three. You divide the strings in half and leave the extra string in the middle. Do a knot on one half, then the string in the middle, then the other half. From there it's like you usually would make your triangles. https://youtu.be/YsCCgZZvziQ If you want to do it like she describes in her alpha teardrop loop video you can look at the videos where she explains triangle ends for normal patterns. In her video more on triangle ends MashaKnots explains what you do if you have an uneven amount of strings. It's a video for normal bracelets but if you want to do the teardrop loop in the way MashaKnots shows in the alpha teardrop loop video you'll use the technique you'd use to knot normal patterns anyways. https://youtu.be/FovN0GDccEc |

@halokiwi so after i do the loop i would just make two triangle ends on each side and that would be my teardrop loop?

You can do it like this. There are many options.Idk if it's what you want to do though. Could you provide a link to a picture of a bracelet thar uses the loop you want to do? I'll try figuring out which technique was used and explain it to you. |

I set my profile picture to a sketch I made that should help youBasically to do a teardrop loop like you want to do you make two triangles following the normal pattern technique. Which knots you use inside the triangles doesn't really matter. You fold your 11 strings in half and make your loop You have two groups with 11 strings each now. Divide these strings into groups of 6 and 5 strings. The groups will 6 strings are the ones on the outside of the bracelet. If you watch this video by MashaKnots it should make sense https://youtu.be/FovN0GDccEc |

The trick is that the triangles overlap a tiny bit at the bottom
