when i make a candystripe it’s uneven and has holes in it, i tie each knots tight because i naturally tie knots tights so i don’t know what the problem could be, i can do alphas perfectly fine but when it comes to normal patterns they come out weird and wonky?

If there are holes usually that means the first half of the knot isn't tight enough. You need to make it as close to the previous knots as possible. The second half doesn't do much.

@chayla if its uneven, try the straight edge technique! Masha knots has a great tutorial on it.

You can get straight bracelets without the straight edges technique. I think especially for a normal pattern beginner the straight edges technique can be more difficult than knotting normally. The straight edges technique also won't help if your overall structure is wonky/not smooth. The straight edges technique just adds a bit different aesthetic in my opinion. |

That's so odd that your normal patterns come out wonky, because your alphas turn out beautifully. I would work on keeping the tension on all of your knots the same, and just practice a lot on scrap thread. Good luck!!

Definetly agree with what everyone else says about making your knots higher, but also make sure that you're using an equal amount of tension every time you knot. When I help teach my friends to make bracelets I tell people to hold tight to the string that they're knotting onto, and really loosely use the string that you're knotting with until you get to the top and you can gently but firmly pull it into place. Sometimes honestly people put way too much tension into both their strings, atleast in my experience and the knots come out too small and weird and spaced apart weirdly. I tend to make my knots a bit looser bc then they fill out the space. Not really loose, but not insanely tight like some people. Just find what works for you, neither way is right or wrong

Why do all my candystripe bracelets always end up curling?

@BGV88 make sure you’re doing a full knot (which means two knots) on each string before switching to the next 🙂

Some braclets naturally curl like the candystripe. Its formatoin and the way the pattern is made, It is always going to curve.
