I don't quite understand how the dimensions work... Like one pattern said 4x16 with 8 strings. How long am I really supposed to cut each string?

I generally just cut all of my strings the same length, and use the dimensions more as a guideline to how big the finished product will be. If the bracelet is 4x16, it means it is 4” by 16”. I generally cut all of my strings to be about six feet🙂

sorry to correct @cgrace270 but the dimensions actually mean the number of knots in the pattern! 4 by 16 means that each iteration of the pattern is 4 knots by 16 knots, and there are 8 strings because 2 strings each make a knot!

@knottahti Oh no, go ahead and correct me! Just goes to show we’re all still learning! I used to do a bit of wood working and that’s how it works there, haha:^)
