if i'm making a bracelet that I just want to start with ties and no loop, how much string should I leave to make the ties. also if i'm just starting with ties, do I need to cut my strings the same length as if I was making a loop?

Normally when you make a loop you are taking the length of string that you want to use, and then folding it over which makes the length of your string double. If you're going to make ties for both ends, you are going to need to cut each string longer than where you would normally fold the string over.I don't often start my bracelets this way, but the length of extra string you leave for the ties comes down to preference and/or size of the wrist that will wear the bracelet. I would say that if you're unsure of how long you want your ties to be, it is better to be safe than sorry, so cut your ties longer than you think is necessary, maybe 4-5 inches or so, then you can adjust if needed when you finish your bracelet. Then you'll know for next time whether you liked the length of the ties or if you want them shorter or longer. I hope this helps! ๐ |
