The first knot positions the knot, and the second secures it. That's why you tie it two times. ๐

a knot consists of two halves, if you put it into perspective. whatever the knot you will do that two times. for example, a forward knot you'll make it two times, the first time being the colour, the second time securing the knot. if you do it once you'll notice it may come undone or slide down. hope it makes sense ๐

If you only knot once there are three issues1) the knots are loose and can easily be undone. The second half of the knot helps to secure it in place. 2) the bracelet will curve because if you only make one half of the knot the string you're knotting with will only move 90 degrees around the string you're knotting on instead of 180. 3) for bf and fb knots the two halves of the knot are made into two different directions. If you only make one half you can only knot into one direction |
