Beginner Alpha Problems

I have only done one alpha and it was a really small 12x12 and I noticed a couple things (Take into account I’m using the clean edges method):1. The rows with color changes were more elongated and had much looser knots. 2. The knots in the middle of the pattern where I used mostly one solid color bunched up and were really tough/didn’t bend or fold easily. Should I just keep practicing keeping my knots tighter on color changes and in general or is there another problem that needs to be fixed? |

Keeping the knots on colour changes a little tighter will help you make these knots a little smaller. Make sure you don't pull the loose leading strings in the back too tight. I think this is probably what's causing the second issue. If you notice in the end that you pulled them too tight, you can cut the loose strings in the back to release some tension. I recommend using both the flat alpha technique and the straight edges technique. The flat alpha technique will really help make your works flatter and the straight edges technique just creates a nice looking edge. Not sure, if this is what you are already doing. I'm unfamiliar with the term "clean edges method". |
