I'm trying to make a large alpha, that would act as sort of a tapestry. Its gonna be 120 by 86 knots in landscape. I was wondering what the best method would be to start and end the base strings because I need to know how long to cut them. I have dowels that I can use, but I was also thinking about ding just a straight top? And should I do the base strings going sideways or from the top down?

I'd do the base strings top-down if you want to hang it up on your wall. If you're tying the strings to a dowel, use the lark's head knot. As for ending your tapestries, here's a technique: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86NliYgo9Pc&t=343s&pp=ygUoZW5kaW5nIGZyaWVuZHNoaXAgYnJhY2VsZXQgd2FsbCBoYW5naW5ncw%3D%3D

If you want a general wallhanging tutorial, this one is great: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkAAwgnkWEo&pp=ygUoZW5kaW5nIGZyaWVuZHNoaXAgYnJhY2VsZXQgd2FsbCBoYW5naW5ncw%3D%3D

And for the straight-edge start, the beginning of this video has a tutorial on that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r84LC16NKLk&pp=ygUZc3RyYWlnaHQgbGluZSBhbHBoYSBzdGFydA%3D%3D
