I use the embroidery floss! I think not sure but I think it's called canvas for cross stitch and if you want the plastic one it's called plastic canvas! sadly I don't now were to get it 😢 maybe in amazon 🤔 ❤️

I do! I took it up fairly recently, you can see my cross-stitch projects (including cross-stitched bracelets) among my latest photos. The thing you cross-stitch on is called Aïda fabric. You can find it in the embroidery department of craft stores or online. I use only branded ones like DMC or Zweigart. It comes in different sizes, i.e. some have bigger grid, some finer. The most common size is count 14 (5.5 pts). It means that it fits 14 cross stitches per 1 inch (or 5.5 per 1 cm). I also have experience working with count 18 (7 pts), but it's a bit more difficult to cross-stitch on such a fine grid. There are also plastic Aïda canvases, they're more appropriate for things like bookmarks or keychains. I cross-stitch with the usual DMC 6-strand embroidery floss. For count 14 you're supposed to stitch with 2 or 3 strands only. I personally always use 3 because they give a denser coverage and there's no white canvas showing through the stitches. If you like the cross-stitch aesthetic and the look of those defined cross stitches on the fabric - 2 strands are good enough too, plus it's easier to pass them through the holes. Now I actually prefer doing alpha patterns as cross stitch, the result is very even and neat. It might take a little longer, but you don't have to worry about knot tension, adjusting, color switches, etc. |
