broken base string on alpha

im in the middle of making an alpha keychain and my leftmost base string snapped. is there any way i can salvage the keychain by fixing the string? i tried to do the "magic knot" but the end is too short

When it happened to me, I glued it back together with white glue and I was careful for the following rows and it was fine 🙂
