Straight edge technique by adding extra strings (normal patterns)

I recently tried the straight edge method with a few normal patterns and the thing I noticed was the left side of the bracelet usually is neat but the right side always has the base string color sticking out. I have tried to resolve it by trying different tensions but nothing seems to get it as neat as I'd like. Seeing other pictures of bracelets that use the same method, a lot of them are very neat and don't have the base string sticking out. Is there a way I can make it neater or is that something that comes with more practice?

I think it is practice.Practice your fb and bf knots. Try to figure out in which way the way you make these knots is different from each other. |

Since you say your left side looks neat, hit not the right, I guess it might be because your bf knots are better than your fb knots. In addition to tension, you can also play around with the twisting of the string: if it's too twisted, it won't cover as great an area
