Hi 🙂 I'm working on #125930 with the clean back alpha technique since I really dislike messy backs. The first few rows went fine, but now I'm at the point (row 10) where there's color changes every 1-3 knots and I end up having 2 or 3 strings to hide in a knot and they get noticeably bigger. I do use 2 pink strings, one for each side, and I also decided to make the inside of the left paws (on the right) with a separate string. But it's still a lot of strings to hide. Any advice ?

My recommendation is try knotting a little tighter on the big knots and make sure your rows stay straight! I sometimes have the same problem and that usually helps me

Oof, good luck! If you do more patterns like this one you could always glue felt or fabric onto the back with hot glue or fabric glue so the messiness is covered up!

I used to do clean back alpha on everything because I just liked the look on the back but it took way too long, especially if it had a million colors, so I stopped. My general rule is I only use the technique on patterns with five strings or less. However, like KuteKat said, tie really tight on the big knots, and drop strings wherever you can so you don’t have to carry as many strings. You could also use multiple leading strings of the same color so you don’t have to carry that color all the way across, you could just have it on both sides and tie it on separate sides. Hope this helps! 🩵

I'm doing the multiple leading strings of one color for 2 colors, but you might be right not to try. Maybe I'll try starting and ending more often for each color, like if I don't need it for 10 knots or something...

What I would do is have two pink strings, one on the left, one on the right, then two brown outline strings, one on the left, one on the right, then for the rest just have one string. That way there’s not as much dragging.
