I've found that my alphas are looking really stretched out when they're finished? I scrolled through the forum and looked for questions abt this that people have asked in the past but all the answers are things I'm already doing (thick base strings, pushing knots up, tying tighter). Is there anything else I can do to fix this? It really showed up in my photo of #166575. With the pattern I'm tying right now, it's still stretching a lot and I have to pull it to make it look remotely correct, I've also tried leaving my ugly back strings loose when I change colors so that it doesn't pull the pattern together but it hasn't changed much.

Some people instead of using thicker base strings double up their strings instead, so if it was a 10 string pattern cut 20 strings and then knot onto two at a time. Might be worth a try

I've found that tying it tighter actually makes it worse, I tie it looser and just pull the strings in a more upward direction. Tying it looser also makes it easier to push each row up
