One of my friends made me a normal bracelet that I've worn almost every day for about 3 years now. There are a couple parts on the edge where the string is fully breaking, so there's small flyways. I guess it makes sense to expect this if I've been wearing it so long, but I haven't heard of this happening. Is there anything I can do to try to keep it intact?

This is completely normal. I think the biggest thing to avoid it is the bracelet getting wet and also avoid wearing it a lot. |

Depending on what it looks like, you could maybe stitch some of it back together/hand sew the ends in with smaller thread of the same colour.

If you wear a certain bracelet for a very long time frequently it’s gonna get worn down over time. This isn’t uncommon as most people decades ago would wear friendship bracelets until they break off. My only suggestion is not wearing it as often if you want to prevent it from getting worse.

I wore the same bracelets for 7 years (they were permanently attached to my wrist) and only cut them because they were getting dirty and impossible to clean. But they still looked pretty good. At the same time I got these, I also got 2 more, which fell off after a couple of years. The difference ? the remaining ones were made with DMC floss, the other 2 with random craft store floss. So there really is a difference in longevity with the quality of the floss 😉
