im looking to start making alpha keychains for myself and friends but some of the patterns have an uneven amount of base strings. ive been looking at this youtube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LkZSrkJykE&t=280s) and the way she ties the base strings to the keychain makes a lot of sense to me and im not sure how i could modify it to have a keychain with lets say 7 base strings (3 folded over plus one more).

You do what you described and what is also explained in the video, just for a different amount of strings:3 folded for 6 base strings and for the 7th base string, you take one end of the leading string. I'm not sure what your question is. |

Halokiwi pretty much answered, but if your leading string is a different colour than your based strings, just knot over the last 2 based strings when you get to the end of the row for 2-3 row, then only knot over the one before last. At the end just cut off the last (extra) one and the few knots you've made at the beginning should prevent it from sliding out. Hope it helps !

I would cut 4 and fold them in half, then knot over the first/last two as one. After a couple rows just cut the extra string.
