Fraying Strings

For my alphas, I normally cut the strings a bit shorter (just enough for ties, not too long) and as I get to the end of knotting, the strings start to fray and the individual strands start to separate from the others and I can’t tell which string is which string, which leads to mistakes in string number. Does anyone have any tips? Thanks in advance! 🩵

You could try wrapping just a ~little~ piece of tape around the end or you could cut the strings long enough to add a knot on the end to keep the strings together, and then just cut it off when you're done, if you don't want jt

I usually tie a tiny little knot at the end of my working string. That way it won’t fray and I can tell it apart from the others when they’re all the same length🙂

You could always use coton perle. It doesn’t fray, so it can’t be separated to use as smaller strings, but I find it works well. I use dmc size 3, which is a tiny bit thinner than normal embroidery floss but you could always size up. This is where I buy it: https://www.woolwarehouse.co.uk/dmc-coton-perle-size-3-shade-blanc-15m

Plus it’s cheaper per metre than embroidery floss!
