I can never get a good length for the string of my bracelets, (normal). The wingspan trick never works, and I always end up cutting too little to finish my bracelet. About how many inches of string should I cut for each piece of string for a 10-16 string bracelet? thanks x

I generally use wingspan and then add a little. You can’t really put a definite number of inches on it as it changes every bracelet depending on how much a particular colour appears in a bracelet. If you see a colour appears more in a bracelet add more string.

This isn't much of a solution, but I would suggest doing your wingspan, and then add the length from your hand to your elbow. this will still allow for evenly cut strings but hopefully enough length!

I think how much string you need is also based on how you knot. Everyone knots a little differently. If you know for yourself a certain amount of string is never enough then you have to take more string.Of course you're worried about using too much string but too much is not as bad as too little. With the left over string you can also do some cool projects like a rug bracelet for example. My advice for you is to cut string of a certain length that you know is too much. Then you do your bracelet and in the end you measure how much you got left. That way you can determine how much string you usually need. But always take a little more than that. |
