Either your string is very cheap, or you’re pulling too right! I recently tried a brand of cheaper string and not pulling as tight has helped a lot. In my experience DMC is the best thread, but use whatever works for you!

I used to have this problem as well, and I used to just use some off brand string that I found around the house. Now I use Prism, and it works like a charm. I have also learned not to tie my knots too tight, because that was also part of the issue. But know that you don’t have to buy the most expensive string to get beautiful results!

DMC is more on the expensive side but it is definitely worth it. No offense, but Loops and Threads brand has broken on me a couple times.

The 6- strand thread is by far the best, the cotton one that is twisted around itself gives me chills. But if you enjoy it, go for it! 😄

That happened to me a lot when i used cotton string, so i reccomend not using that. also, maybe not pull as tight when you knot it.

Embroidery floss is stronger than craft cord

I use Dmc and prism thread. Also try to hold your thread with a looser grip.

Like everyone else said, DMC is great, and make sure you're using thicker embroidery floss, not thin cotton. I don't recommend craft cord or string that seems too, well, stringy, softer embroidery floss is definitely the best.

DMC is super nice!! I tie my knots super tight and it hasn’t broken on me once. I also use cheap craft threads, and I do get problems with it. So definitely try DMC!

Usually any type of EMBROIDERY floss has worked for me. Craft cord which is the one that’s twisted upon eachother tends to snap a lot more than when I use embroidery floss. Amazon sells it for really cheap, but DMC is also great too.

I recommend the JP& Coats brand from Walmart, it is cheap, has good colors, and I've never had any problems with the string snapping. I also have used iris from Hobby Lobby and this is good too. I also really like DMC but it is much more expensive.

Sometimes, you may need to double up the strings, using two strings instead of one. I have a box of string with excellent colors, but whenever I try to use just one string, it always snaps. If this doesn't work, then your string is truly awful. If this is the case, try the Six Strand Floss by Prism. If this doesn't work, then, you may be pulling too hard.

DMC is great high quality thread! It’s never snapped on me before. Another nice thread is craft cord by loops and threads at michaels. It’s cheaper than DMC if you want something inexpensive. I like how the strings are twisted onto each other. I use prism and a bit of le peon and they are ok too. But my favorite string would have to be DMC. Hope this helps 👍
