Alpha base string recommendations??

I’ve been making alpha bracelets but every time i make them the pattern seems to be stretched and my knots don’t look square. I always use a ruler to push up my knots. I saw someone say to use thicker base strings, is there any specific thread to use?

I'm not sure i totally understand your question, but have you tried making your knots a bit tighter ? Mostly the "first" knot to push it closer to your work and make the "second" knot looser or as you do normally ? You don't have any pictures posted so it's difficult for me to understand your question without seeing it !

It probably helps to make your knots tight and the way you tie. I found that using different size string for the base can make it look a bit weird depending on the pattern. If anything go a bit bigger and use good craft cord or embroidery thread for the base.

ok so what do I do if there are 14 base strings and 1 leading string? Like how do I attach the leading string???
