Alpha Project Narrower Than Pattern

I made my first alpha project and it looks really good. But the pattern had it looking like the finished piece would be a square when it actually ended up a lot narrows than long. When I think about it that makes sense as each column is one string wide but each knot is really 2 string wraps so each knot would be longer than it is wide. Is this what other people find too? If I want something to finish square should I look for patterns that are wider than long? |

Yes, this is something lots of people experienceYou can - use thicker base strings/double base strings - skip rows, if rows repeat - push up each row after knotting it - knot looser |
