My backward knots look more like a chain than a knot , they just randomly changed into this and I can’t figure it out , any tips ?

Try to tie your knots more tighter so that the knots are tighter. Besides that, I recommend watching the Masha Knots's video about the basic knots in friendship bracelets. Make sure you are crossing your leading string over the base string, not under.
