Finishing an Alpha

When I'm done with my alpha, what am I supposed to do with the ends of all the strings? Not the base strings, but all the other colors used in the pattern. Especially the two ends of my leading string in the beginning and end that directly stick out at each side? Do I just cut them as short as I can? Or try to glue them down somehow?

For the 2 on the edges if you don't work them into the ties I would recommend trying to glue them. I have had the strings on the ends unravel a little before.
