I’ve been trying this over and over, I know how to actually read normal patterns but how do you start the patterns of? Whenever I try my strings are all mixed up and it’s REALLY frustrating! I really need help because I want to be able to do normals and not just alphas ( it gets a bit boring!). Hope you guys can help!

If your strings are getting tangled when you start I would highly recommend learning how to do triangle ends or a teardrop loop. Lots of beginner tutorials say to tie a big knot with all strings and starting after that knot. I don't recommend doing this, because this way it is really easy to get confused about which string is where. Instead lay the strings out in the correct order you can see at the top of the pattern and tape them down in that order. Leave a few centimeters of string, so you can make ties in the end. You can learn how to do more complicated things like triangle ends at a later point.
