Straight Edges Normal technique with teardrop loop

I recently learned about the straight edge technique for Nirmal bracelets. How would you be able to start it with a teardrop loop? When you start that type of loop, the triangle goes towards the middle. I am thinking tying the base strings on the side first to keep them farthest to the edge....any other suggestions so it doesn't show?

You have the correct intuition: you make a regular loop and the when you start making the v-shape for the start, you leave out the strings for the straight edges technique first, so that they are at the edge ๐
