Whenever I’m making alphas I use the flat alpha technique, but the edges aren’t ever straight and I’m wondering how to fix that. I also tried doing fb and bf knots on the edges, but it still came out bumpy.

For the straight edges technique on alphas you make bf knots on the left edge and fb knots on the right edge like you described. Maybe you are forgetting knots. You always need to do two bf or fb knots: one as the last knot of the previous row, one as the first knot of the next row. If you do only one, you are missing half a knot per row.

I just looked at a photo of one of your alphas. Forgetting a knot does not seem to be the issue. The issue seems to be the angle at which you tie the fb and bf knots at the edges. Maybe you could take one of your finished bracelets and try to twist the bf and fb knots a little bit towards the outside.
