Hello! There are probably a ton of questions about this already but finding them is overwhelming so I’ll just ask again I guess:When I try to make a candy stripe bracelet it always ends up curling in on itself - how do I fix that? I can do so many patterns but for some reason I have trouble with (arguably) the simplest one! 😂 😭 |

given the structure of a candy stripe, it is honestly bound to curl, ur not doing anything wrong. u can try running it through a flat iron but there’s not much that can be done. happy knotting ^_^

i think it’s the knotting tension. i used to make my knots super tight and that would curl the bracelet. but then i started to loosen it and it curled a lot less

Thank you for the tip! Yeah I always make my knots really tight so I’ll try again with some scrap thread 🙂

Candy stripes twist because of the structure of the bracelet; it is very difficult to knot them without them twisting. However I have made quite a few candy stripes and have found some things that help:1) Knotting looser (this not only prevents twisting but makes your knots come out much neater as well). 2) Pulling a little harder on the strings that I am knotting onto (this seems to be encouraging the bracelet to shape itself more in a straight line than a curling shape). 3) If you have two strings of the same color at the end you could always do a fb or bf knot to try to counteract the structure of the bracelet. |
