Shrinking a bracelet

So I’m wanting to make a bracelet whose pattern is designed for 16 strings, but I don’t want it that wide. Is there a way that I can simply take out strings to make it about 12 strings or would I have to completely redesign the pattern?

@halokiwi ur comments still stands but i wanted to add that tying tighter knots and using thinner string can make bracelets thinner while staying with the pattern.
