hey guys, i started making a kumihimo bracelet and made my own disc out of paper and cart board, idk if it’s bc the slits i made aren’t 100% straight or alined w eachother but my bracelet will be normal and then part of it bulges out a but if that makes ANY sense, how can i prevent this ?

I'm not sure, but your slits being uneven is not the reason 🙂 I hope that reassures you a bit

you may have done a mistake, but if not then just try pulling on the bracelet and it should straighten out 😄

you probably just made a mistake, or maybe when you stop and start you’re not pulling the strings with the same pressure. i have a store bought wheel and the same thing happens to me when I stop and restart.

them not being aligned w each other might also be part of it, but I’m not sure because I’ve never made my own wheel

This isn't primarily a slit problem: this is a tension problem. That kind of bulging tends to happen when you have one strand much looser or tighter than another. Try pulling all your strings back so they're taut after every two stitches; if it works, you'll know that the bulging was caused by inconsistent tension. Your board may be contributing to this problem. It's fine if your slits are off-angle, but if they're not somewhere close to equally spaced or if some slits are deeper than others, you might have problems. If tightening your strings every two stitches doesn't fix it, try cutting a new board, maybe with a template to make sure it's even.
