hi! I was just wondering if it is possible to use a different type of string for the base strings of an alpha (like a mercerized yarn), then for the leading string, an embroidery thread? will it still work?

Yes, you can use other yarn for the base strings than you use for the leading strings and it will still work. Why shouldn't it?The only thing you have to keep in mind is that thicker base strings will make your knots wider. This can even be helpful when trying to make the knots more square because the knots usually tend to be more long than wide. |
