I am in the US and starting a club at the middle school I teach at. I will have 20 students that will be learning how to make bracelets. I have been making bracelts for years but only for myself and purchase DMC threads from the craft store. This is not going to be practical with so many students sharing supplies. I have a budget of $200 for the entire school year. I have read that size 5 crochet thread is a good alternative, but I am only finding sizes 3, 10 and 8 locally. Ali Express is not going to be an option because I fear it would take too long for shipping. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I would use amazon. There are tons of sets of 50 skeins. You could buy multiple of those and have multiple colors of the same skein!

Like the top comment said I would also use Amazon or get the loops and threads thread from Michaels!!! Also maybe to get a bigger budget have the club do a sale of bracelets and use it for funding!!!!

An option could be to just use acrylic yarn. The thicker strands make seeing the knots a lot easier, the material resists wear and tear so it can be knotted easily, and most importantly, it's super cheap! One large skein (around 350 yards) is just a few bucks and it's gonna be enough for LOADS of bracelets. Later on the students could graduate to "better" materials (although I've always been happy with yarn myself, but I digress). It's an option to consider 👍

I usually get all my string on Amazon unless I need a specific color right away. I usually get “Embroidery floss unicorn and mermaid” (sold by Athena’s Elements Store for $11.99), “Paxcoo 124 Skeins Embroidery Floss” (sold by Paxcoo for $10.99), and recently I have been buying “Embroidery Floss 105 skeins Cross Stitch Theads” (Sold by LE PAON Store for $8.99). I like the colors sold by LE PAON more though.

I haven't tried it myself but recently ive been looking into weaving thread. it's probably not as pretty as embroidery floss and it's more expensive in the short term because you buy it in like mega bulk but if it's for a club you'll probably use it up and you'll save money long term
