Thread Untwisting

While i’m making bracelets that take me a while, often the embroidery thread im using starts to unravel and untwist into like the individual threads and it makes my knots look worse as i go down 🙁I know the obvious solution is to get better quality thread, but it’s not really accessible to me at the moment as I live in a small city and craft supplies and craft stores are very limited and we’re quite far away from other places so shipping to where I live is very expensive a lot of the time. Does anyone have any ideas or tips to keep the thread from unravelling as i’m working? i keep trying to twist it back but it’s hard to tell which way it goes and sometimes i just make it worse :/ |

I usually try to twist them back up. It’s not a good permanent solution but it can help for a bit. It’s just annoying because then you have to keep on doing it.

I usually tie a small knot at the end of each string and that usually helps

just wanted to say for anyone else looking for an answer, a knot at the end almost completely fixed the problem! it still unravels sometimes but it’s very easy to twist back to normal. i put a slip knot at the end of each string, which if you don’t crochet/knit i suggest googling it it’s super helpful, it’s easy to tie and then you just pull the string and it comes right undone 🙂 @Night_Owl thank you so much for the advice!!

I've also had success wrapping the ends of the threads in small pieces of tape! It gets cut off at the end with the rest of the excess string.

Some times I put washable glue on to the ends and it helps a ton!
