I started making alphas. And I’m not sure how tight to tie my knots. I think I’m tying them too tight, since the bracelet seems, squished? I don’t know how to not knot that tight. Looking for advice on how to avoid this 🙁 it’s making me sad. They are so easy to make, but they don’t look the best …

In alphas it's generally recommended that you don't knot very tight, but rather loose.

It is a common issue that the pattern appears stretched. You could try using thicker base strings or pushing up the rows after knotting them.

The progression of alpha photos on your profile look better and better. Especially your most recent post #571461🥰 I love Hocus Pocus. I don't think your patterns look squished at all. Can you reference an example in the photos you have uploaded?

Thank you! That was actually over a year ago. I just started back up with bracelets! Im pretty sure it’s my knot tension that made this bracelet look so wonky. Thank you!! 🙂

Ok, I see. Well with continued practice I'm sure it will come back to you. Good luck.

@mari2007 a pattern with just two colours and up to ten base strings is good.
