Hi! I use regular amazon embroidery floss, but one scheme of floss is usually not enough for the backgrounds of alphas where you need a lot of the color. Does anyone know any brands that sell a lot of one color, and that are relatively the same thickness as embroidery floss? Thank you!!!

I use crochet thread as the base for my alphas. It comes in big spools and is pretty close to the thickness of embroidery floss if you get the right size. (I think the one I use is size 3). I usually get mine for JOANN Fabrics but I’m pretty sure other craft stores sell it as well. Hope this helps!

i found that mellow yarn (which comes in white) is a great yarn/floss that has the same weaving with embroidery floss and similar thickness, while lace yarn which is twisted also is similar thickness. lace yarn have many colors, solids, color changing, glitter, also white. each ball of these yarn is 9-10 skeins if i remember correctly, and costs $1-2

@unicorn 14 do you have a local daiso /dollartree type of store nearby? (daiso is 100 yen shop in jp which is around $1) or somewhere else eg. there should be a daiso webstore, not too sure about the prices tho but there shouldn't be much of a differenceif not, aliexpress is also a good way for cheap embroidery floss |

@unicorns14https://www.daisojapan.com/search.aspx?searchterm=lace+yarn THICK lace yarn btw, the #20 ones not the 40, 40s are too thin, this should be daiso usa and they sell in a box of 6/8 balls (each balls around 9-10 skeins) mellow yarn is also a good choice (if there is) X acrylic yarn (too thick, I bought 1 to try out) and for others eg recycled cotton yarn, I haven't tried it out or tested the thickness but lace yarn should be good to go, there are solid colors, lace and glitters |
