can i use size 10 crochet thread for base strings?

I recently bought crochet thread to use as base strings for alphas, but i realized theyre size 10, can i still use them or are they too thin?

i think you can but maybe double them up. ive never tried it but ya.

I have used that size doubled up and it worked fine for me! For reference, the leading string I use is dmc embroidery floss.

I use Aunt Lydia's size 3. I think 2 strands of 10 would be a bit too thick, but I've never tried.
